LAGOS—Following the oppositions that has trailed the nomination of Dr. Olusegun Aganga, the former Finance Minister, by President Goodluck Jonathan, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members from Lagos Island, held a peaceful demonstration, yesterday, in support of Aganga’s candidacy.

The supporters defied the rain and carried placards with inscriptions urging the Presidency to re-appoint him because of his rich background in economic matters.

Another group, led by Mr. Onipa Coker, a chieftain of Lagos PDP, urged the Presidency not to give in to pressure from mischief makers who are bent on discrediting the former Minister.

Coker described the opposition of Aganga’s candidacy as the handi-work of mischief makers who do not have the interest of the nation at heart.

In a statement signed by Messr Rasak Adeniji, Muyideen Oyekan, Ademola Kosoko, Mulikat Obanikoro and Abiodun Saheed, urged President Goodluck Jonathan to ignore those opposing Aganga’s re-appointment describing them as disgruntled elements and enemies of Lagos State.
