Amosun to set up Security trust fund

ABEOKUTA— Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, has announced plans to set up a security trust fund aimed at boosting operations of security agencies in the state.

The trust fund, according to the governor, would provide facilities and enhanced remuneration for security operatives, while private and public sector stakeholders will be expected to voluntarily contribute to the fund.

At the commissioning of a power project constructed by Lafarge WAPCO Cement Plc in Ewekoro, the governor said that the move was to ensure adequate security of lives and property of citizens.

He decried the increasing rate of violent crimes and warned that his administration would not condone any form of criminality, reiterating the commitment of his administration to encourage the private sector through the provision of conducive environment.

Senator Amosun advised the management of the company to improve on its social responsibility to its immediate community by providing more social amenities and employment opportunities for the youths.
Earlier, Chief Olusegun Osunkeye , chairman of Lafarge WAPCO Cement Plc, noted that the power plant was a confirmation of the company’s commitment to industrial development in Nigeria.

He said an “additional 2.5 million tonnes cement factory will be commissioned in two weeks time.”
Also, Mr. Samy Abdelkader, Chief Executive Officer of the company, said “the 90 megawatts power project comprises of 6 units of 15 megawatts plants.
