Blackburn Rovers are yet to make a bid for their transfer target Papiss Cisse, according to the player’s agent.

It was reported that the Ewood Park club was set to launch a record breaking £12 million offer for the Freiburg striker.

However, the 26-year-old’s agent has denied any approach has been made by the one-time Premier League champions but admits the Senegal international would be incredibly tempted by the lure of top flight English football.

“Blackburn watched him about 10 times last season and I have seen the scout. But as yet we have not heard anything official,” Guido Nickolay told the Lancashire Telegraph.

“Of course Papiss would like the chance in the Premier League. There are clubs interested in him so anything is possible at the moment.

“Clubs from abroad have made bids for him but so far no English clubs have.”

Blackburn manager Steve Kean has reportedly made it clear that Cisse is his first-choice striker and the club’s owners are willing to spend the money to match his ambition.

The Senegalese international – who has an impressive record of seven goals in nine games for his country – is a consistent goal scorer in the Bundesliga, netting 28 goals in 48 games since joining Freiburg from Metz.
