Windhoek — African Stars utility centre back Pat-Nevin Uanivi is among the list of players that have been called up to the new-look Brave Warriors squad ahead of Namibia’s international warm-up against Malawi in Blantyre on July 6.

While the match will mark Malawi’s independence anniversary – there is little love lost between the two southern African nations and Namibia will be looking for revenge after failing to beat the Flames in their last two attempts.

Namibia suffered a humiliating 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Malawi in a FIFA-sanctioned international friendly in 2008 and failed to negotiate their way past the Malawians in another friendly last year – going down 2-1 in a rain-soaked match.

Coaches Brian Isaacs and Ronnie Kanalelo have opted for a mixture of young blood and experienced players while a significant number of youngsters who lifted the Westphalia Regional Cup have been rewarded for their efforts with inclusion in the provisional 27- member squad.

Up-and-coming playmaker Neville Tjiueza leads the inevitable inclusion of youngsters in the ailing Warriors setup, alongside other promising youngsters such as Roger Katjiteo, Teberius Lomabard, Alpheus Handura, Larry Horaeb, Edmund Kambanda, Petrus Shilambi and Benson Shilongo.

The 27-member provisional squad will be trimmed down to 18 on July 3.

The squad reads as follows: Goalkeepers: Virgil Vries, Ephraim Tjihonge, Max Mbaeva, Arnold Subeb. Defenders: Chris Katjiukua, Dudes Mwedinhanga, Larry Horaeb, Dennis Ngueza, Pat-Nevin Uanivi, Da Costa Angula, Freedom Puriza, Edmund Kambanda, Alpheus Handura, Teberius Lombard. Midfielders: Neville Tjiueza, Ananias Gebhardt, Asprilla Wermann, Jordan Haimbili, Willy Stephanus, Petrus Shitambi, Denzil Haoseb, Lovers Kamuhanga, Stigga Ketjijere. Forwards: Sidney Uri-Khob, Roger Katjiteo, Benson Shilongo, Heini Isaacks.
