Maahad Senior Secondary School Saturday held its 3rd speech and prize giving ceremony at the school grounds in Brikama, West Coast Region.

Speaking at the occasion, Yusupha Touray, the guest speaker, told the graduating students that the day was a moment of reflection on what they have made up themselves. He noted that when they took off on this journey, their minds were like a rubber band and the environment they found themselves in had to determine how far the rubber band could be stretched.

He further spoke at length on the importance of education and urged students to take their studies seriously as well as respect their teachers.

For his part, Lamin Bojang, the principal of Maahad SSS described the occasion as very important because it marked the end of an educational programme for a given set of students. He said that it is at such occasions that the school administration passionately shares with parents, concerned individuals, stakeholders and the general public a record of activities that have recently taken place in the school, their constraints, challenges and projecting into the future with great hope and an unwavering determination.

He also said that the school has consistently produced and will continue to produce worthy students who will occupy key positions not only in The Gambia but also in other parts of the world. Bojang added that education is the key to success, and therefore students need to take their education seriously in order to achieve their educational goals in progress. He further thanked the president, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya Jammeh for supporting girls’ education.

Kakai Sanyang, the chairman of the school’s governing board, urged the graduands to further their education and go in for jobs that will contribute to the development of the country. He further urged them to listen to the advice of their parents and teachers. He also thanked President Jammeh for his immense contribution towards the educational sector, as well as the proprietor of the school, Alhaji Banding Drammeh and the entire teaching staff of the school.

He finally advised the entire student body to maintain peace and tranquility in the school.
