NEW PATRIOTIC Party (NPP) supporters in Cape Coast are not leaving anything to chance, as they have declared their intention of embarking on a house-to-house with immediate effect in order to win the 2012 elections.
Party supporters in the Cape Coast Metropolis expressed their readiness for the next general elections over the weekend when another massive keep fit exercise was organized by the “Believe in Ghana†Youth Club to win floating voters and wish the people of Cape Coast a happy season, following the celebration of the Fetu Afahye festival last week.
Addressing the jubilant supporters at the Jubilee Park in Cape Coast, the former Member of Parliament for the area, Ms Christine Churcher said the keep fit exercise was also in preparation towards the 2012 elections, adding that the party had already started its house-to-house campaign.
Ms Churcher, also a former Minister for Secondary and Girl Child Education, said the NPP has a bright chance of winning the next elections, indicating that the party was correcting the mistakes that accounted for its defeat in the 2008 elections.
She called on Ghanaians to compare the administration of former President John Agyekum Kufuor and that of the ruling government and vote wisely in 2012.
The former MP noted that the NPP had attracted a large support base in the region due to the hardship created by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government and called on the supporters to be vigilant, unite and pray for the NPP to come back to power to remedy the situation.
She disclosed her intension to contest the position of National Women’s Organiser of the party to mobilize women, who according to her, form a larger part of the electorate.
She advised party faithful to take advantage of the forthcoming polling station elections to market the party.
The former Chief Executive of Bui Power Authority, Fred Oware was confident the NPP would win the next elections due to the current economic hardships facing the country. He called on party members to work hard to ensure the party ascends the throne after the next elections.
The keep fit attracted hundreds of people amidst drumming and dancing through the principal streets of Cape Coast. It created artificial traffic jams in the metropolis where drivers who could not hide their feelings had no options but to blow their horns to ginger the people.
DAILY GUIDE observed that both the old and young were not left out in the celebrations.
